ChannelVane ("the extension") is a browser extension that shows research statistics on YouTube channel and video pages.
What the extension does with data
- No personal data is collected. The extension does not collect, store, sell or transmit your name, email, browsing history, YouTube account details or any other personal information.
- No servers of ours. The extension has no backend. It does not send data to the developer or to any third party.
- Requests to YouTube only. To compute statistics, the extension requests public pages and public data from
www.youtube.com, the site you are already viewing. These requests are made from your browser and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. - Configuration file. The extension may download a small public configuration file (detection settings, no code) from the developer's website. The request contains no information about you.
- Local cache. Channel statistics and search results are cached in your browser's extension storage (
chrome.storage.local) for up to 7 days to avoid repeated requests, along with a daily count of checks made. This cache never leaves your device and is removed when you uninstall the extension. - Exports. CSV files (channel analysis and similar-channel lists) are generated in your browser and saved only where you choose.
